Not shocking that they what to learn how to use mana stones. Why mana have meaning to magic user to them it likley just another form of enegry that they have let to learn how to use. No differnt then heat, running water,wind or the Sun it self.
Marcus may be able to use it as well do to his blood line as well. So that may help him as well.
If said I do remember one path in Starrweald where people where able to use magic and machains together.
